Atletico Mineiro has an extra concern for the rest of the season. Midfielder Alexsander suffered a knee injury during the 1-0 win against Bolívar, at Arena MRV, in the quarterfinals of the South American Cup.

What happened?

The injury occurred in the first half, when Alexsander clashed with Robson Matheus and felt his leg. He was replaced by Bernard after 19 minutes, who scored the goal that classified the team to the semifinals.

Consequences for Atletico Mineiro

Alexsander's injury is a blow to the team, which had already lost attacker Cuello to a serious injury to his left ankle. The midfielder will be reevaluated on Thursday (25) to determine the severity of the injury.

Alexsander's history at Atletico Mineiro

Alexsander was signed at the end of July for 5.5 million euros (R$ 34.4 million, at the exchange rate at the time), coming from Al-Ahli Jeddah, from Saudi Arabia. He scored his first goal for Atletico Mineiro in the match against Bolívar last week.

Atletico Mineiro will play in an international semifinal for the first time in three years. The games will be played on the weeks of October 22 and 29, against Independiente del Valle, from Ecuador.
