Atletico Mineiro is set to profit over R$ 22.96 million from the definitive sale of midfielder Fausto Vera to River Plate. The player, currently on loan to the Argentine club, is expected to remain in Buenos Aires until 2027, securing a significant financial return for Galo. Despite rumors regarding River's disinterest in retaining the player, reliable sources indicate that the 'Millionarios' board plans to exercise the purchase option. Vera has stood out as a starter under coach Eduardo Coudet. The midfielder's transfer fee is set at US$ 4.5 million, and Atletico Mineiro has already received US$ 500,000 (approximately R$ 2.5 million) for the loan that began in December 2025. The Minas Gerais club had acquired Vera from Corinthians in 2024 for the same amount. With this sale, Atletico Mineiro recoups its investment and secures an additional profit of R$ 2.5 million. During his time at River Plate, Fausto Vera has become a key player, participating in all matches of the Argentine Championship and scoring one goal in 20 appearances. Vera's signing by Atletico Mineiro in 2024 was a request from then-coach Gabriel Milito, who had previously coached him. Although he showed quality and potential, Vera did not establish himself as an undisputed starter at the Minas Gerais club, but he made important contributions with goals in the 2024 Brazilian Championship. Overall, he played 59 matches for Atletico Mineiro, scoring three goals and providing one assist, winning the 2025 Minas Gerais Championship as his only collective title with Galo.
