Atletico Mineiro has lost another player from the 2021 champion team. Paraguayan defender Junior Alonso left the club to play in the United States. Alonso was one of the main players of the team that won the Campeonato Mineiro, the Brasileiro, and the Copa do Brasil in 2021. He was one of the few players remaining from that winning team. Now, only two names are carrying the history of 2021 in the current squad: goalkeeper Everson and midfielder Alan Franco. Everson was a starter in the champion team, while Alan Franco was a well-used reserve under the command of Cuca. The last one changed status just after the reforms - gained the starting position when the first midfielders of origin left the Galo, as was the case of Allan and Otávio. I'm one of the remnants of that magical year, I see my teammates leaving, it's obvious it's not good. There's a feeling of friendship, which we created from that time. Alonso, besides being a great leader, is a great professional. When he went to the bench, he always respected and accepted - said the goalkeeper. The Atletico Mineiro reformulation was gradual. In 2023, 11 names were still remnants: Igor Rabello, Réver, Hulk, Guilherme Arana, Mariano, Eduardo Vargas, Matheus Mendes, Zaracho. Some of them left the Galo in the following seasons.
